Stick
to the seasons
These days most flower types are available all year round– but
beware, out of season flowers will cost you. Better to go with
seasonal, locally available varieties that will be fresher, hardier and much
more budget-friendly.
Don’t
dismiss cheaper flowers
Don’t underestimate the beauty of affordable filler flowers.
Carnations make striking pomanders, colourful gerberas look lovely in
bridesmaids’ bouquets and ‘goldfish’ style bowls filled with floating daisy
heads can create striking centrepieces for your wedding table.
Keep it
simple
Time is money. Complicated arrangements which involve a lot of
work will generally be more expensive. Consider simple bouquets and
uncomplicated arrangements. For example, bridemaids carrying a single Calla
lily will look incredibly chic at a modern wedding and will be much more
affordable than traditional posy bouquets.
Make
the most of your budget
Get more for your money by making your flowers
multitask across different parts of the day. Instead of leaving arrangements at
your ceremony venue, see whether they can be transported to your reception. You
could even ask your florist to create hand-tied bouquets and posies that will
sit in glass vases on the top table, once you’ve finished with them at the
wedding ceremony.
